The Billiard Sports Confederation of the Philippines (BSCP) will hold an elimination and qualifying tournament from March 11-March 29 at the Gameball training center on the second floor of the Sports Medicine building at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Malate, Manila.
The tournament is open to all Filipino cue artists who are seeking for spots in the national billiards team that will see action in the 30th Southeast Asian Games in Manila from November 30-December 11.
Those who qualify will play against the BSCP’s 17-member national training pool.
“We want inclusive participation of our billiard players especially those undiscovered young and talented cue artists in the country,’’ said BSCP Secretary General Robert Mananquil.
“It will give them a chance to represent the country in the biennial regional meet,’’ added Mananquil.
PHISGOC and the Southeast Asian Federation Council have approved 10 events for billiard sports’ four disciplines—pool, carom, English billiard and snooker.
Each country may enter a total of 22 players for the 10 events.
The events are men’s 9-ball singles, men’s 9-ball doubles, men’s 10-ball singles, women’s 9-ball singles, women’s 9-ball doubles, women’s 10-ball singles, men’s 1-cushion carom singles, men’s english billiards singles, men’s snooker singles and men’s snooker doubles.
“The BSCP will choose from the winners of the qualifying tournament for the 10 events of pool, carom, english billiard and snooker to form the team set to compete in the SEA Games,’’ said Mananquil.
